Nam June Paik coglie dalla celebre poesia “Piange nel mio cuore” di Paul Verlaine aspetti essenziali che traspone nell’opera “Rain in Rome”. L’idea innanzi tutto di un’arte totale in cui possano confluire pensiero, immagine e musica. Il tema metaforico quindi della pioggia e della indicibile umanità del pianto. Dagli anni ’60, per una speciale affinità, Eric Andersen lascia indizio, ovunque capiti nel mondo, di uno spazio in cui possano essere accolte le lacrime, “The crying space”, le lacrime del mondo appunto. Per entrambi in ogni caso la via di associare linguaggi e realtà diverse in una produzione simbolica che sia in grado di indicare riferimenti e nuove vie. A questi aspetti è interessata dal 2010, anno della sua fondazione, Flag No Flags Contemporary Art ed ora, accogliendo una idea progettuale di Giovanni Nicolini, grazie al fondamentale apporto dell’Archivio Cattelani che con questi autori ha stabilito per decenni rapporti irripetibili su piano umano e culturale, propone una programmazione che da settembre, sino a dicembre con Wolf Vostell e Joseph Beuys, contribuisca a rafforzare la consapevolezza che sia preferibile migliorare il rapporto con il mondo piuttosto che perseverare nel tentativo di ricostruirlo o rifondarlo.

It weeps in my heart
As it rains on the city.

Nam June Paik takes from the famous poem "It weeps in my heart" by Paul Verlaine essential aspects that he transposes in the work "Rain in Rome". First of all, the idea of a total art in which thought, image and music can come together. The metaphorical theme of rain and the unspeakable humanity of weeping. Since the '60s, because of a special affinity, Eric Andersen leaves a hint, wherever he happens to be in the world, of a space where tears can be welcomed, "The crying space", the tears of the world precisely. For both of them in any case the way of associating different languages and realities in a symbolic production that is able to indicate references and new ways. Flag No Flags Contemporary Art has been interested in these aspects since 2010, the year of its foundation, and now, accepting a project idea of Giovanni Nicolini, thanks to the fundamental contribution of the Cattelani Archive that has established for decades unrepeatable relationships with these authors on a human and cultural level, it proposes a program that from September until December with Wolf Vostell and Joseph Beuys, contributes to strengthen the awareness that it is preferable to improve the relationship with the world rather than persevere in the attempt to rebuild or refound it.
